"Lord, please help my unbelief"
“The wonderful thing about praying is that you leave a world of not being able to do something, and enter God’s realm where everything is possible. He specializes in the impossible. Nothing is too great for His almighty power. Nothing is too small for His love.” Corrie Ten Boom
A few weeks ago I wrote about my son’s eye injury in my blog post 3 Powerful Words. Two weeks ago my son and I drove to Iowa City to check on his eye.
After waiting in the kid-friendly room and performing some standard tests, the surgeon said, “Well, I don’t understand it, but Abe’s eye looks better.” Tears filled my eyes as I whispered, “I have been praying.” The surgeon said, “We don’t do that enough, do we?”
Even though I had been praying, my heart doubted. I’m embarrassed to confess, but I wondered if God would heal Abe’s eye. My request seemed big, and my faith measured small, but my God specializes in the impossible!
His vision improved one line and his scar thinned. Abe’s eye still has a long way to go, but the doctor’s words reminded me that my God performs miracles. God can heal his eye if he chooses. He created his eye!
A father brought his epileptic son to the disciples to heal, but they couldn’t heal him. Jesus healed the boy and told the disciples, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 ESV
My prayer life matched the disciples’ faith. Lord, please increase my faith and help my unbelief. Help me to pray in faith for the impossible.
