Inspired by Ordinary People

I love true stories of people’s lives. Usually, the heroes face struggles, but their endurance, courage, and faith carry them through the situations. Their testimonies offer hope to me. If they can persevere through difficult dilemmas, then I can handle my small problems.
Recently, I read Cameron Townsend Good News in Every Language by Janet & Geoff Benge. The biography of Townsend fascinates me.
Townsend, a poor farm boy, moved to Guatemala to tell people about Jesus. He quickly realized many tribes couldn’t speak Spanish. One Indian man even even said, “If your God is so great, why can’t he speak my language?” His burden blossomed into starting Wycliffe Bible Translators and translating the Bible into different languages around the world.
An ordinary man who loved Jesus and changed the world.
The Case for Christ is an excellent movie. Atheist Lee Strobel worked at the Chicago Tribune and resolved to discredit Christianity. While on his journey, he traveled to pepper scholars and offer objections. He soon realized that Jesus Christ is real and placed his faith in Him.
An ordinary man who attempted to disprove Jesus and found his Savior.
One of my favorite books is the Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. During World War II, the Ten Boom family hid Jews in their Holland home. The Nazi police raided their home and seized the family. Sisters Betsy and Corrie were taken to a consecration camp and treated inhumanely. Eventually, Betsy died and Corrie is released. Even though Corrie suffered in the camps, she traveled around the world speaking about forgiveness.
At one meeting, a former guard extended his hand and asked Corrie to forgive him. Corrie thought, "Even as the angry vengeful thoughts boiled through me, I saw the sin of them. Jesus Christ had died for this man; was I going to ask for more? Lord Jesus, I prayed, forgive me and help me to forgive him...Jesus, I cannot forgive him. Give me your forgiveness...And so I discovered that it is not on our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world's healing hinges, but on his. When he tells us to love our enemies, he gives along with the command, the love itself." (40 Powerful Quotes from Corrie Ten Boom)
An ordinary woman who led by example and forgave her enemies.
