"The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith." by Billy Graham
Last year on Mother's Day weekend, I visited my parents.
Even though my mom was tired, she wanted to go shopping. The Lou Gehrig's Disease had quickly dropped her weight, and my mom desired some new clothes. We drove to the mall and had hours of fun.
Later while enjoying a family picnic under the patio, the neighbor snapped a picture. Little did I know, it would be the last photo with my mom. She died a few weeks later.
My mom left a legacy of love, generosity, and faith. She was the kindest person I have ever known. She prayed daily for her kids and grandkids, modeled her faith in God, and gave generously to others.
What kind of legacy am I leaving?
How am I investing my time, energy, and resources? Who am I loving and serving?
What would my kids say about me today?
"Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." James 4:14 ESV
What about you? Maybe you don't have kids, but you pour into your nieces, nephews, neighbors, or community. If you do have kids or grandkids, what would they say about you?
Lord, we only have one life. Please help us to be to faithful to You. Teach us to use our talents and time for what matters for eternity, loving You and others.
